Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently used his social media platform to comment on issues ranging from healthcare reform to defense spending.
On December 11, 2025, Bacon posted a message referencing the need for legislative action regarding healthcare costs: “ICYMI: We know we need an interim extension with reforms so we can focus on bigger fixes to the unaffordable ACA. I won’t sit idly by while our constituents’ premiums increase by $2K a month.”
Later that same day, Bacon addressed concerns about military preparedness in electronic warfare. He stated: “By direction of Congress for electronic warfare, DoD has put key leaders in place, now organizations, new doctrine and strategies… but where it counts in the budget and capabilities, the Department does too little in this critical battle domain.” The earlier tweet on December 11 was limited to a link without additional commentary: https://t.co/o2FGdmoPp8
Bacon’s recent posts come amid ongoing national debates about rising healthcare costs and defense funding priorities. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) continues to be a focal point for lawmakers seeking solutions to increasing insurance premiums. At the same time, Congressional oversight of the Department of Defense’s efforts in electronic warfare remains an issue as global threats evolve.
A former resident of Momence, Illinois and graduate of Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix, Don Bacon has served as Nebraska’s 2nd District representative since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He currently resides in Papillion.
