Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several topics on his official X account on November 11, 2025.
In a post from the early hours of Veterans Day, Bacon commented on ethical standards in Congress regarding financial practices. He stated, “Just the appearance of insider trading brings discredit to Congress. I only own mutual funds. I’ll vote for legislation that stops this.” (November 11, 2025).
Shortly after, Bacon congratulated Derek Vaughn on his appointment to Nebraska’s Supreme Court, writing, “Congrats to our new Nebraskan Supreme Court Justice, Derek Vaughn. He’s a widely respected judge, a great civic leader and a tremendous man of decency.” (November 11, 2025).
Later that day, marking Veterans Day, Bacon shared his appreciation for military service members: “On Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have answered our nation’s call to service. As a 30-year Air Force veteran, I’m grateful for the 1% who defend our nation today and the 5% who once wore the uniform. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.” (November 11, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017 and is currently serving in Congress. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and residing in Papillion, he graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
