Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing U.S.-Iran relations and foreign election interference.
On April 8, 2026, Bacon wrote: “Iran’s IRGC never negotiate in good faith. Every President since Carter has to learn this the hard way. The Mullah Regime hates us and calls us the Big Satan. There will be no real peace until the regime is gone.”
The following day, April 9, he continued his commentary on Iran’s government and its long-term threat to U.S. interests: “Don Bacon: ‘We are safer today because Iran is significantly weakened. But the govt is still in place & that means they’ll threaten us in the long term.’ The Iranian govt has been targeting Americans for 47 years, killing a thousand of our citizens.”
Also on April 9, Bacon addressed concerns about foreign involvement in elections, stating: “America should not interfere in other countries’ elections. We don’t like it when others do it to us or our allies.”
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently lives in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later from the University of Phoenix.
His remarks reflect ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran dating back several decades, as well as continuing debate over international election integrity.
