Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, addressed mental healthcare and foreign policy issues in a series of tweets posted on July 30, 2025.
In his first post at 14:32 UTC, Bacon shared insights into mental health challenges, stating, “My story, like that of so many others, is a start to identifying the problem of untreated and neglected mental healthcare in our nation.” He directed readers to his article published in the Washington Times Healthcare Special Section.
Later that day at 15:02 UTC, Bacon commented on international affairs with a reference to historical events in Southeast Asia and Russia’s current posture towards former Soviet territories. He wrote, “This guy clearly isn’t the “Watson” from Sherlock Holmes’s as he doesn’t know what happened to Laos, Cambodia the Boat People & Reeducation Camps. Nor does he listen to what Putin says about the former territories that were in the USSR. Moldova, Georgia & Azerbaijan will be next.”
At 15:11 UTC on July 30th, Bacon further discussed ongoing conflict involving Russia and Ukraine: “Russia bombs civilians, Ukraine bombs military targets. The Secondary Sanctions against Russia cannot be started soon enough.”
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative since replacing Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
