Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently posted several messages on his official X (formerly Twitter) account addressing military preparedness and foreign policy.
On December 7, 2025, Rep. Bacon encouraged constituents to contact his office, writing: “Reach out to our office below!”
Later that day, he referenced the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by sharing an image of the USS Oklahoma and commenting on historical military policy: “This is the USS Oklahoma that capsized on 7 Dec 1941, and being pulled back over. You can see the holes in the hull caused by Japanese torpedoes.
Never forget that underfunding our military and isolationist policies left us very unprepared for WW2 in 1941.” The post was made on December 8, 2025.
On December 8, Rep. Bacon also highlighted coverage from Punchbowl News regarding current foreign policy debates: “Punchbowl News: While Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) applauded the emphasis on the Western Hemisphere, he said the strategy amounts to a 1930s-era document and ‘an isolationist type of foreign policy. They’re more interested in criticizing Europe than Russia.'”
Rep. Bacon has been vocal about national security issues during his tenure in Congress, having replaced Brad Ashford in 2017 as representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
