Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed economic and constituent issues through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On August 5, 2025, Bacon highlighted ongoing economic challenges facing Nebraska, writing, “Over the past year Nebraska’s GDP has dropped 6%. This started during last admin but it continues. Corn & soybean prices are low because of lack of markets. Fertilizer costs are high. Tariffs have exacerbated the farmers’ struggle. We need more markets, E15 and aviation biofuel.” The statement reflects concerns about declining agricultural commodity prices and increased production costs impacting local farmers.
In a separate post on August 6, 2025, Bacon responded to an unspecified comment with a brief remark: “Or you’re gullible as can be.”
Later that same day, Bacon shared an example of constituent services provided by his office: “A Wahoo resident wrongfully had $5,700 taken out of her monthly pension by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Our office contacted OPM and helped get her money back.”
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix. Since taking office in 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford, Bacon has regularly communicated with constituents about both policy matters and individual casework.
