Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, shared a series of posts on social media addressing political rhetoric, youth engagement in healthcare education, and support for Ukraine.
On October 18, 2025, Bacon commented on political discourse by stating: “Not only an idiot, but a repugnant one at that. A perfect example of how one can be “far right” but not a conservative.”
Later that day, he highlighted the activities of young constituents: “Our Congressional Youth Advisory Academy visited UNMC Davis Global Center this morning. Students learned about the iEXCEL program which improves human performance and effectiveness in health care through the adoption of high-fidelity simulation, interprofessional collaboration” (October 18, 2025).
On October 19, 2025, Bacon addressed international policy preferences among Americans: “Americans, to include both parties, overwhelmingly want more weapons support to Ukraine and more sanctions against Russia.”
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix. Since taking office after replacing Brad Ashford in 2017, Bacon has been active on issues ranging from foreign policy to local educational initiatives.
