Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district, posted a series of tweets on September 15, 2025, addressing topics ranging from political violence and free speech to veteran support and higher education.
In his first tweet of the day, Bacon commented on recent events: “The murder of Charlie Kirk was an attack on our Freedom of Speech & against our Republic. Let us not forget that whether we are Republican or Democrat, we are Americans first. The public demonization we see daily fuels radicalization. Civility & decency are needed.” (September 15, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Bacon highlighted his participation in a community event supporting veterans: “Honored to speak at the Better Back Nine banquet. Their mission to support the well-being of Special Operations Forces veterans through golf and camaraderie is truly inspiring. Congratulations to my friend Brett Frevert on winning the bid for this beautiful wood crafted flag.” (September 15, 2025).
That evening, Bacon described a discussion with Princeton University’s president about issues in higher education: “Great speaking with @Princeton President Eisgruber again to discuss critical challenges facing higher education. We addressed federal research funding, campus free speech, and combating antisemitism.” (September 15, 2025).
Don Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. His educational background includes a BA from Northern Illinois University earned in 1984 and further studies at the University of Phoenix.
