Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of statements on his official social media account on December 8, 2025, addressing topics ranging from political accountability to international security and antisemitism.
In one post published at 16:15 UTC, Bacon commented on recent events involving media coverage and responsibility in public office. He stated, “.@cspan Ceasefire: ‘After Signalgate I think I’ve seen enough. What I’ve really wanted to see was someone take some responsibility, own up to a mistake and then when he blamed the media or the journalists for the story, it just ruined his credibility.'”
Later that day at 16:39 UTC, Bacon discussed Russia’s geopolitical posture and NATO’s significance in global security. He wrote, “No one wants to be neighbors with Russia. They want to extend their borders and make vassal states of neighboring countries. You either deal with Russia with strength and resolve, or you get run over. This is one reason why NATO exists. Weakening NATO makes our world less safe.”
At 18:28 UTC on the same day, Bacon addressed his stance regarding U.S. alliances in the Middle East and antisemitism within conservative circles: “This conservative will stand by our ally and the only democracy in the Middle East. And, conservatives should always shun anti-Semitism. Anti-Semites are not welcome. This reminds us that “The Right” is not the same as being a Conservative.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion after being born in Momence, Illinois in 1963. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
