Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, expressed his concerns through a series of tweets on July 9, 2025. Bacon addressed issues related to federal funding for local schools and energy policy.
In a tweet posted at 14:31 UTC, Bacon succinctly stated his disapproval by saying “This is unacceptable.”
Shortly after, at 14:37 UTC, he elaborated on his stance regarding federal funds designated for education. He urged the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to release funds that had been appropriated by Congress and budgeted by local schools. He emphasized that “The Executive Branch should not freeze money at the last minute when it is already budgeted & put in contracts by our schools.”
Later in the day, at 15:20 UTC, Bacon discussed his support for a comprehensive energy strategy. He advocated for an inclusive approach to energy production which includes biofuels, hydrogen, nuclear energy, as well as tax incentives for wind and solar energy projects. He stated “I support an ‘all the above energy’ approach… I defended this in the Reconciliation Bill & got big wins for biofuels, hydrogen & nuclear energy.”
Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and furthered his education at the University of Phoenix.
