Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, addressed several issues on his Twitter account on July 18, 2025, including federal education funding delays and commentary on military honors.
In a post at 20:29 UTC, Bacon highlighted concerns about delayed federal education funds: “.@NDE_GOV is still waiting for federal education funds typically released July 1. Delays place schools in the impossible position of revisiting hiring & programming decisions foundational to academic success & student support. I’ve urged @RussVought47 to release these critical https://t.co/RyNr5j8AcB”. The tweet referenced ongoing challenges faced by educational institutions due to late disbursement of resources necessary for planning and supporting students.
Later that evening at 21:32 UTC, Bacon responded sharply to another user with the statement: “You’re a pro-Putin creep. Please stay in Moscow where you belong. https://t.co/2Qg8Ca9wWx”.
At 21:59 UTC, Bacon commented on recent debates over military base naming conventions, stating: “Only the Secretary of Defense can think naming a base after President Eisenhower, or the famed Vietnam hero Hal Moore or Medal of Honor recipient, who had over 30 bullet & stab & fragment wounds, Roy Benavidez is “woke”. Everyone admires these heroes.
