Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district, shared several updates via social media on June 17, 2025. These posts addressed a variety of topics ranging from travel advisories to economic concerns and national security.
On June 17, 2025, Rep. Bacon urged constituents in the Middle East region to register for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). He emphasized the importance of this initiative by stating that it would enable them to “receive the latest Security Alerts and other guidance information from their local U.S. Embassy as soon as it is released.”
Later that day, Rep. Bacon highlighted potential economic challenges facing his district if certain actions are not taken. He warned that without intervention, manufacturing in Nebraska’s 2nd district could suffer significantly with “14,000 lost jobs,”“$1.3B in lost wages,” and “$2.7B in lost economic output.” He noted that these concerns motivated the House GOP’s decision to vote for measures protecting manufacturing and making tax cuts permanent.
In another post on the same day, Rep. Bacon addressed national security issues. He expressed concern over new threats from global adversaries such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. According to him, American deterrence is faltering; hence, @HouseGOP & @HASCRepublicans passed historic legislation aimed at restoring deterrence capabilities and modernizing military operations to revitalize national defense efforts.
Rep. Don Bacon has served Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after replacing former member Brad Ashford. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he now resides in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
