Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his official X account on October 20, 2025, addressing issues ranging from trade policy to support for Ukraine and domestic protest movements.
In a post at 14:03 UTC, Bacon commented on the legislative process regarding tariffs: “The actual answer is to work with Congress on tariffs. Article One gives that power to Congress. While Congress is not likely to support tariffs against 80 countries as Trump has done, there is support to deal firmly w/ countries who have unfair trade policies against the U.S.” (October 20, 2025).
Later that day at 14:58 UTC, Bacon addressed public opinion and policy regarding the conflict in Ukraine: “Over 70% of Americans want more support for Ukraine. Yes, we want the war to end, but the vast majority knows Putin is the invader & committing war crimes. We have moral clarity who is at fault, & don’t want to reward Putin. We’d like the Administration to have moral clarity too.” (October 20, 2025).
At 18:28 UTC on the same day, Bacon posted about protest sponsorships: “If the Communist Party of America offers to sponsor your protest, I recommend declining the offer.” (October 20, 2025).
Don Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and continues to represent Nebraska’s second district (source). Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
