Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 19, 2025, addressing foreign relations and domestic policy issues.
In a post published at 15:16 UTC, Bacon expressed gratitude to Japan’s Ambassador to the U.S., Shigeo Yamada, for hosting members of Congress. He stated, “I thank Japan’s Ambassador to the U.S., Shigeo Yamada, for hosting three members of Congress. Japan is a vital ally in deterring China and a supporter of Ukraine. Japan is a strong friend.”
Later that day at 17:37 UTC, Bacon addressed the ongoing debate over government funding measures in Washington by writing, “I oppose a government shutdown, which is why I voted for a clean CR to keep the government open. While this was necessary to avoid a shutdown, continuing resolutions are not a wise way to govern.

At 17:51 UTC on the same day, Bacon commented on legislation regarding TikTok’s operations in the United States. He wrote, “There should be total clarity. Congress passed a law that President Trump signed. The President must shut down TikTok’s US operations unless the CCP’s ByteDance sells off that part of TikTok.”
Don Bacon has served as the congressional representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
