Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to comment on U.S. foreign policy, youth fitness, and nursing education.
On December 15, 2025, Bacon advocated for increased military support to Ukraine by stating, “The U.S. needs to send 200 long range cruise missiles to Ukraine. This may help Russia negotiate with more earnestness.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about physical fitness among American youth: “We must better emphasize physical fitness to our youth. 77% of 18-year-olds can’t qualify for military service, largely due to fitness standards. That should concern us all. I support @POTUS restoring the Presidential Fitness Award in our high schools.”
In another post on December 15, Bacon commented on healthcare workforce challenges: “Our nation is facing a health care shortage & nurses are central to the system. Now is not the time to cut off the student pipeline to post-baccalaureate nursing programs. These degrees should be treated equally to other accredited post-baccalaureate health profession degrees.”
Bacon’s remarks come as he continues his tenure in Congress after succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017 and representing constituents from Nebraska’s 2nd district.
He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion.
Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
