Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of issues on his social media account on August 21, 2025. His posts covered topics from international conflict to local economic concerns.
In a post early that morning, Bacon commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions in Ukraine, stating, “Let’s not forget Putin has killed all his rivals and has made bombing Ukrainian civilians his nightly practice.” (August 21, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon referenced public opinion regarding U.S. support for Ukraine: “This poll shows 62% of Americans support sending ADDITIONAL military aide to Ukraine. This is the norm.” (August 21, 2025).
Turning to domestic matters, Bacon noted the impact of rising property taxes on local businesses: “Though this is handled at the County level, I’ve had multiple restaurant owners tell me their property taxes were tripled or in some cases quadrupled this year. This is creating real financial strain with some of our most historic restaurants.” (August 21, 2025).
Bacon has served as the representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and resides in Papillion. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
