Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on November 5, 2025, addressing concerns about federal workers and legislative negotiations over healthcare tax credits.
In his first post, Bacon highlighted the ongoing financial strain faced by government employees: “We’re entering a crisis point. 1.4 million federal workers are working without pay.” (November 5, 2025).
Addressing legislative efforts to resolve current issues, Bacon wrote: “We’re in a log jam right now. That’s why four of us, two Republicans and two Democrats, agreed on a framework for temporarily extending and reforming the ACA Tax Credits. We agreed on a 2-year extension and income caps phased out over $200K.” (November 5, 2025).
He further stated that bipartisan support exists for this proposal: “I’ve heard from leadership on both sides of the aisle that they agree with this framework.” (November 5, 2025).
Bacon has served as the congressional representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
