Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on November 10, 2025, reflecting on veterans’ events and recent debates over government operations.
In his first post of the day, Bacon expressed gratitude for a local event: “I thank Mayor Kindig and the LaVista community hosting their annual Salute to Veterans dinner. About a thousand attend every year and us veterans are grateful. I had 16 assignments in the AF, and Eastern NE made us feel welcome like no other.” (November 10, 2025).
Later that evening, Bacon commented on ongoing political disputes regarding the federal government shutdown: “Some Dems are so mad about opening the government back up that they want Chuck Schumer FIRED as Minority Leader, who voted to KEEP the government SHUTDOWN. Most Americans want government open. We want safe & on-time flights, 1.4M fed workers paid & SNAP helping those in need.” (November 10, 2025).
He continued with criticism directed at Democratic leadership: “Leader Jeffries is opposing all the unions representing Federal workers, all the airlines who are worrying about timely and safe flying operations, 1.4M federal workers who want to be paid, and 42M who need SNAP. The ‘burn it all down’ attitude is bad for America.” (November 10, 2025).
Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and continues to represent Nebraska’s 2nd District (source). Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
