Rep. Don Bacon, U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, addressed a range of policy concerns in a series of posts on September 8, 2025.
In his first post at 11:54 a.m. UTC, Bacon criticized the decision to stop a major wind energy project. He stated, “Whatever one thinks about wind energy, this was a mistake to halt this project. It was $6B project & 80% complete, w/ thousands of jobs at stake. It was also going to lower energy costs for two states. Businesses and workers deserve predictability.”
Later that day, at 12:18 p.m. UTC, Bacon commented on criminal justice issues following reports of a violent crime involving an individual with multiple prior arrests. He wrote, “It is a failure by our society when a person minding their own business gets murdered by someone who had 14 prior arrests for violent crime. Keep violent criminals behind bars. Judges who are soft on violent criminals leads to higher crime.”
By mid-afternoon, Bacon turned his attention to international security and NATO relations, expressing concern over U.S. policy toward Baltic allies and Russia’s interests in the region. At 3:11 p.m. UTC he posted, “Reducing our commitment to our Baltic Allies undermines deterrence & is exactly what Putin wants. The Baltics are our Allies & lead NATO in defense spending per share of GDP. Whoever is pushing “defunding” of Baltic deterrence should be fired.”
Don Bacon has served as the representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion after being born in Momence, Illinois in 1963. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
