Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed energy policy and economic history in a series of posts on October 8, 2025.
In his first post, Bacon stated, “Energy demand is growing faster than energy production, which is why an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy is needed. Wind energy works well for the Midwest. Omaha receives 40% of its energy from wind.” (October 8, 2025).
He followed with another post emphasizing a comprehensive approach to national energy issues: “The real solution to our nation’s energy challenges is an all-of-the-above approach that is collaborative, pragmatic, and focused on finding common ground, a philosophy that would do well to carry over into politics.” (October 8, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon commented on historical economic policies: “Republicans last supported tariffs and protectionism in the 1930s. It didn’t work then. Liberal Democrats in the 1970s wanted protectionism, but Reagan’s free market ideals won out.” (October 8, 2025).
Bacon has served as a member of Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he graduated from Northern Illinois University and later attended the University of Phoenix.
