Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 22, 2025, addressing support for Ukraine and veterans’ healthcare.
In his first tweet, Bacon stated, “We have to stop bullies. Ukraine is doing the fighting and defending their country, but they need our weapons and support. No one has better weapons than we do.” (July 22, 2025). He followed up with another post: “It is morally and strategically clear for us to support Ukraine.” (July 22, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon turned attention to veterans’ issues: “We’re on the short list for a new VA hospital. I want to lock this in before my term ends. Our vets deserve better. I’ve spoken personally with the VA Secretary about it & if we do this through my CHIP IN for Veterans Act we can save about 60% of what the VA would spend by using” (July 22, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
