Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of statements on his official social media account regarding U.S. drug policy, potential military action involving Venezuela, internship opportunities, and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

On November 14, 2025, Rep. Bacon addressed concerns about drug-related fatalities and U.S. foreign policy by stating: “We lose 100K Americans a year to drugs, so confronting the cartels is justified. But if we’re going to war with Venezuela, the President must make his case to Congress. Right now, he’s made zero. Any continued operations or escalation must come to Congress.”

Later that day, Bacon announced internship opportunities for Spring 2026 in both Washington D.C. and Omaha: “Now accepting Spring 2026 internship applications for our DC and Omaha offices! Join Team Bacon and gain firsthand experience in Congress while serving NE-02. Apply and learn more below https://t.co/U11u4iPfpC https://t.co/8xQahC2f9H”

In a separate post on November 14, Bacon commented briefly on international affairs: “Free Palestine from Hamas.”

Rep. Don Bacon has served Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and continues to reside in Papillion, Nebraska. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 before furthering his education at the University of Phoenix.

His recent comments reflect ongoing debates within Congress regarding executive authority over military actions abroad as well as domestic efforts to combat drug trafficking and its consequences among Americans.
