Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted several statements on March 12, 2026, addressing U.S. policy toward Russia and Iran as well as sharing a personal reading recommendation.
In his first post of the day, Bacon stated: “We need more sanctions on Russia, not less. Russia is giving targeting intelligence to Iran. Reducing sanctions means Russia financially props up their invasion of Ukraine and nightly bombing of cities. Weakness towards Russia prolongs the war.” (March 12, 2026).
Later that morning, he commented on longstanding tensions between the United States and Iran: “Iran has been at war with the U.S. since 1979 and has killed over a thousand Americans. The targeting of Americans should not have been ignored for so long.” (March 12, 2026).
In a separate post made about an hour later, Bacon shared a resource on leadership: “A quick but great read. Leadership and life lessons from SEAL training.” (March 12, 2026).
Bacon’s comments reflect ongoing debates in Congress regarding sanctions policy toward Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine and its reported cooperation with Iran. The relationship between the U.S., Iran, and Russia remains a significant focus in American foreign policy discussions.
Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Don Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 before also attending the University of Phoenix.
