Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed national security and foreign policy concerns in a series of posts on September 11, 2025.
In one post, Bacon called for a strong response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, stating: “This is a time for firmness towards Russia by sending military weapons to Ukraine and implementing secondary sanctions against Russia. Putin takes advantage of weakness and vacillation.” (September 11, 2025).
He also highlighted cybersecurity threats from China, writing: “The CCP conducts cyber attacks against Americans everyday. I was targeted two years ago according to FBI.” (September 11, 2025).
Addressing congressional debate over U.S. support for Ukraine, Bacon posted: “ICYMI: I spoke on the House floor in defense of funding for Ukraine. We have to stand on the right side of this issue and be on the side of freedom. It is not a conservative position to embrace isolationism.” (September 11, 2025).
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s 2nd district representative since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
