Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media accounts on October 8 and 9, 2025, addressing issues ranging from domestic policy to international conflicts.
On October 8, Bacon commented on remarks made by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries regarding a proposed extension of COVID-era Affordable Care Act tax credits. In his post, Bacon wrote: “Dem Leader @RepJeffries really stepped on it when he called supporters of a one-year extension of the COVID-era ACA tax credits as ‘Super maga.’ I don’t think the 12 Dem cosponsors see themselves as maga. It also shows Jeffries doesn’t want to negotiate.” The post refers to an ongoing debate in Congress over healthcare subsidies and bipartisan cooperation.
The following day, on October 9, Bacon addressed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He stated: “Russians intentionally target Ukrainian civilians. Send Ukraine the cruise missiles and help them fight back.” This comment reflects calls by some members of Congress for increased military support to Ukraine amid continued hostilities with Russia.
Later that same day, Bacon commented on efforts to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas. He wrote: “We are all hopeful that the hostages still being held by Hamas will finally be released, which is long overdue. They have been abused, physically and mentally, and we need to get them home as soon as possible. This reported agreement to the first step in President Trump’s peace”
Bacon has served as the U.S. Representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, after replacing Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
