Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of messages on his social media account on December 12, 2025, addressing topics ranging from local sports achievements to federal employment commitments and national sports history.
In a message celebrating athletic success, Bacon wrote: “Congrats to Creighton Volleyball on making the Elite Eight!” (December 12, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on federal employment contracts: “We have a contract with our Federal employees. We don’t rip up contracts. We maintain our promises and commitments.” (December 12, 2025).
He also reflected on a historic sporting event: “1980 Miracle on Ice will always be an all-time greatest victory and memory for US Hockey.” (December 12, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
