Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account on October 11, 2025, addressing issues ranging from human rights abuses to the ongoing government shutdown debate.
In a post made at 16:33 UTC, Bacon wrote, “The inhumanity that some humans perpetrate on others… disgusting.”
Later that day, at 17:40 UTC, he commented on the federal government shutdown and attributed responsibility to Senate Democratic leaders. Bacon stated, “Jake Tapper makes it clear who is behind the government shutdown. Schumer and Jeffries are using lots of smoke and mirrors, but the facts are they voted against a clean CR and forced a government shutdown.”
At 19:15 UTC, Bacon reiterated his position regarding congressional votes related to keeping the government operational. He wrote, “We’ve voted to keep the government open and the Senate Dems have voted to close government 8 times. Listen to Jake Tapper… it’s obvious to honest folks who wants the government shutdown.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon earned his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
