Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media on October 6, 2025, addressing issues related to the ongoing conflict in Israel, German energy policy, and support for law enforcement.
In a post made at 05:23 UTC, Bacon commented on the situation involving hostages held by Hamas: “Until the hostages are released by Hamas, which has lasted now two years, the war is not done. Israel has every right to rescue 48 hostages. When Hamas releases the hostages we’ll know they want peace”.
Shortly after, at 05:28 UTC, Bacon referenced former German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s decisions regarding Germany’s energy strategy: “Chancellor Merkel was the German leader who selected Russia as Germany’s primary energy source.”
Later that day at 14:03 UTC, Bacon expressed support for law enforcement following an incident involving an injured officer: “We are praying for his recovery and for his family. We stand with our cops! We are glad the criminal is in custody.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. His educational background includes a BA from Northern Illinois University (1984) and further studies at the University of Phoenix.
