Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, shared several posts on his Twitter account in early September 2025 addressing both Labor Day and ongoing tensions between Russia and NATO.
On September 1, Bacon marked the national holiday with a message of appreciation for American workers: “Generations of hard working Americans have made this the greatest country in the world. We are thankful everyday for our workers who really are second to none. Happy Labor Day! https://t.co/EExOl6vSHZ”
The following day, Bacon commented on statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine and NATO. In a post dated September 2, he wrote: “Putin said this crisis when the West tried to drag Ukraine into NATO in 2014, which is totally false.
Putin fails to mention when Russia poisoned Victor Yuschenko in 2004 w/ dioxin. Victor was a candidate for President and won. Here is a before and after picture of the https://t.co/WYYy31hWUchttps://t.co/QhHjefh3B5“
Shortly after, also on September 2, Bacon addressed Russia’s relationship with its neighbors and NATO expansion: “It is not NATO that is pushing Russia’s neighbors to join. It is that Russia’s neighbors want to be in NATO. Why? Because Russia has invaded several neighbors and bullies the rest. No one has done more to enlarge NATO than Putin. https://t.co/QhHjefh3B5”
Bacon, who was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and now resides in Papillion, has held his congressional seat since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
His recent social media activity highlights his ongoing engagement with both domestic issues like Labor Day recognition as well as international concerns involving Russian foreign policy and security dynamics surrounding NATO.
