Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on July 17, 2025, addressing legislative criticism, presidential approval ratings, and international military cooperation.
In his first tweet at 17:30 UTC, Bacon responded to an unnamed individual’s comments on legislation by stating, “This guy must be illiterate. He clearly didn’t read the bill.”
Shortly after, at 17:35 UTC, he commented on President Biden’s approval ratings: “President Biden had the lowest favorable numbers for a President going back to 1952.”
Later that afternoon at 18:14 UTC, Bacon highlighted a meeting with a former foreign volunteer in Ukraine. He wrote, “I was honored to meet with Jack de Santis, a former foreign volunteer who served as a drone pilot in the Ukrainian military. His experience shows how much we can learn from Ukraine’s innovative drone operations to strengthen our capabilities.”
Don Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and resides in Papillion. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
