Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on September 11, 2025, addressing issues related to Russian military activities and the renaming of a U.S. military base.

On September 11, 2025, Rep. Bacon wrote, “Russia’s stagnant submarine fleet continues to grow in the Black Sea.” Later that day, he referenced a Wall Street Journal report with the statement: “WSJ: Vladimir Putin is all but taunting Donald Trump by flying drones into Poland. Your move, Mr. President. Putin always takes advantage of weakness.”

In another post from the same date, Rep. Bacon commented on the recent decision to rename Fort Hood after Roy Benavidez: “Congress authorized renaming Fort Hood for this American hero to Fort Benavidez. The SECDEF called this woke. Roy Benavidez is an American hero and a recipient of the Medal of Honor. He had 35 bullet, shrapnel and stab wounds in fight where he rescued nine allied soldiers.”

Don Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and represents Nebraska’s 2nd district. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
