Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, addressed several national and international issues in a series of posts on December 9, 2025.
In his first statement of the day, Bacon commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s electoral record and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He wrote, “Let’s remember Putin has never had an honest election but wants to force a new election on Ukraine. President Trump should not cower to Putin’s demands.” (December 9, 2025)
Shortly after, Bacon expressed support for recent Congressional action regarding military surveillance capabilities. He stated, “We need a new AWACs. This is a wise decision by Congress.” (December 9, 2025)
Later that evening, Bacon turned his attention to domestic agricultural policy and economic challenges facing farmers. He wrote, “The $12B aid package is needed for farmers. Farmers are struggling with high input costs & low commodity prices. A double whammy. Some of this existed under the Biden Admin, but it has been exacerbated by tariffs. Bad policies are forcing us to provide aid to farmers & it’s” (December 9, 2025)
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and resides in Papillion after being born in Momence, Illinois in 1963. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later from the University of Phoenix.
