Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing mental health legislation and condemning antisemitic conspiracy theories.

On March 26, 2026, Bacon announced support for suicide prevention efforts by stating, “The STOP Suicide Act will provide an important tool that will help create needed programs to deliver outpatient or telehealth stabilization services.”

A day later, on March 27, 2026, Bacon addressed recent conspiracy theories regarding violent incidents involving public figures: “Anyone who suggests Israel or a Jewish plot somehow orchestrated the murder of Charlie Kirk or the attempted assassination of President Trump is NUTS and infected with the ‘brain rot’ called antisemitism.”

Don Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
