Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, expressed his views on national energy policy and local energy sources in a series of posts on August 29, 2025.
In one post, Bacon questioned a recent decision by former President Trump regarding an energy project: “As a supporter of an ‘all of the above’ approach for energy, which will lead to energy dominance for America, I find it odd that Pres. Trump would kill this 1,000 job project. Our country needs a balanced mix of clean & reliable energy so we don’t have to rely on energy imports” (August 29, 2025).
Highlighting Omaha’s use of renewable resources, Bacon wrote: “Omaha gets 40% of its energy from wind.” (August 29, 2025).
In another message referencing former President Obama’s home state, he posted: “Here is President Obama’s state.” (August 29, 2025).
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative since replacing Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
