Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on August 19, 2025, addressing international politics and sharing a lighthearted birthday message.
In one post at 20:42 UTC, Bacon commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stance toward Ukraine, stating, “Putin doesn’t want to acknowledge Zelenskyy as a leader of a sovereign Ukraine. He sees Ukraine as a vassal state to Russia. Reality will be too painful.”
Later that evening at 20:56 UTC, Bacon shared a pun while wishing Senator Pete Ricketts a happy birthday: “What did the corn say when his friend wished him a happy birthday? Aw, shucks! Happy Birthday @SenatorRicketts!”
At 22:09 UTC the same day, Bacon referenced his campaign promises and electoral support for foreign aid policies: “Even better! I campaigned on supporting Ukraine and Israel… and the majority of voters agreed.”
Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
