Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on March 28, 2026, contrasting the actions and values of political leaders in Eastern Europe and commenting on international alliances.
In one tweet, Bacon compared Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, stating: “Kallas wants freedom, democracy, free markets and rule of law. Medvedev wants dictatorship, domination, religious persecution, gulags and opponents thrown out of high rise windows.” (March 28, 2026).
Addressing the ongoing conflict involving Ukraine and Russia’s international activities in another post from the same day, Bacon wrote: “Ukraine is helping our allies, Russia is helping Iran. Is the Administration listening?” (March 28, 2026). He reiterated this sentiment shortly after with a similar message: “Ukraine is helping our Allies, but Russia aids our enemy.” (March 28, 2026).
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion at age 59, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
