Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of comments on his social media account on October 1, 2025, addressing Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine and expressing criticism of both Russian leadership and Hungary’s stance on the conflict.
In his first post at 13:16 UTC, Bacon wrote, “The Bible says one reaps what they sow. Russia is finding this out.”
Shortly after, at 14:44 UTC, he continued his remarks regarding the conflict by stating, “Perhaps the Russians should demand that Putin withdraw from Ukraine and stop the war.”
Later that day at 14:57 UTC, Bacon addressed Hungary’s position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He said, “My mom’s side of family is Hungarian. I am always proud of Hungarian history like when Hungarians revolted against Communism and the Soviets in 1956. But, the Hungarian Prime Minister is dead wrong on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He is on the wrong side of history & morality.”
Don Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
