Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared his views on government operations and legislative processes through a series of posts on October 31, 2025.
In one post at 14:31 UTC, Bacon addressed the debate over the filibuster in the Senate, stating, “Senate Dems would love to open the government without having to vote for it. That’s why they want the filibuster GONE. Let’s not forget that all but two Dems voted in previous Congress to end the filibuster. Without the filibuster we’d have been shackled with Build Back Better.”
Shortly after, at 14:42 UTC, he commented on the ongoing government shutdown and its consequences for federal employees and military personnel: “The shutdown already stopped federal workers’ pay and soon military pay. Today is the last day of SNAP. We are indeed at a crisis point for hundreds of thousands of Americans. Voting to close down government was a reckless decision by Chuck Schumer.
