Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, has recently voiced his concerns on social media regarding U.S. policy toward Ukraine and Russia.
On March 25, 2026, Bacon criticized the administration’s approach to Ukraine, stating, “Ukraine has been winning back territory the last 3 months. It is wrong for the Administration to push Ukraine to give land not in Russian control to Russia as part of a peace agreement. This is appeasement and rewards the invader. What happened at Sudetenland in 1938?”
Continuing his commentary on U.S.-Russia relations, Bacon posted on March 26, 2026: “President Trump wants to appease President Putin. Most Americans reject it. We reject Putin.”
Later that day, he cited The New York Times in a post emphasizing the risks of reducing pressure on Russia: “.@nytimes: ‘Easing sanctions on Russia at this critical juncture, instead of increasing pressure, risks fueling Russia’s aggression and undermining progress we have made to reduce Russia’s global energy leverage,’ Representatives Don Bacon, Republican of Nebraska, and Gregory W.”
Bacon’s statements come amid ongoing debates about U.S. foreign policy concerning Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. He succeeded Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion, Nebraska. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
