Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on August 8, 2025, expressing support for law enforcement and discussing legislative efforts to enhance their protections.
In his first post at 16:11 UTC, Bacon stated, “My prayers are with these four officers’ families and loved ones. I’m co-leading the bipartisan Back the Blue Act with @RepGolden to strengthen protections for those who risk everything to keep our communities safe.”
Later that day at 16:43 UTC, he posted, “Americans do value the lives of our law enforcement who protect us. Bad folks who intentionally target our law enforcement deserve extra punishment. And… that helps protect us.”
A third post followed at 16:59 UTC containing only a link: “https://t.co/JCfvZImnrE”.
Bacon has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford as representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. His educational background includes a BA from Northern Illinois University (1984) and further studies at the University of Phoenix.
The Back the Blue Act referenced by Bacon is part of ongoing congressional efforts to provide additional legal protections for law enforcement officers across the United States.
