Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of statements on July 27, 2025, highlighting his views on Baltic security and NATO expansion.
In one tweet at 20:15 UTC, Bacon expressed his appreciation for his role as GOP Chair of the Baltic Security Caucus: “I love serving as the GOP Chair of the Baltic Security Caucus. All three countries suffered under Soviet and Russian domination, with most families knowing a loved one who was shot or sent to Siberia. The Baltics love freedom and are doing everything possible to help Ukraine.”
Later that evening at 20:50 UTC, Bacon commented on recent geopolitical developments involving Russia and NATO, stating: “Putin has done a great job enlarging NATO and scaring neutral countries into aligning with the U.S.”
At 21:10 UTC, he posted a brief remark directed at an unnamed individual or entity: “This guy drank the Kool-Aid.”
Don Bacon succeeded Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017 and represents Nebraska’s 2nd District. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon resides in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
The Baltic states—Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania—have experienced historical periods of Soviet control before regaining independence. Since joining NATO in 2004, these nations have been vocal supporters of Ukraine during ongoing conflicts with Russia.
