Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to discuss clean energy and the ongoing debate over government funding.
On October 1, 2025, Bacon shared a link to his article in The Washington Times Clean Energy Special Section, writing: “Read my latest article in @WashTimes Clean Energy Special Section #CleanEnergy https://t.co/e7XdTrT6s4”.
Addressing the issue of government funding, Bacon posted on October 2, 2025: “Most Americans know that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to fund the government, which requires 7 Dems votes. Only 3 Dems support funding the government. We need 4 more. 99% of GOP voted to fund government, 98% of Dems voted to close government. https://t.co/a372UCvRLS”.
Later that same day, he reiterated his stance on party responsibility for the shutdown: “Citizens know that one party shut down government. One party voted 99% to keep government open and the other party voted 98% to close government. https://t.co/dmZZsdWQuF”.
Bacon has served as a member of Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and is known for representing Nebraska’s 2nd District. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
