Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, addressed recent legislative developments and his policy initiatives in a series of posts on October 16 and 17, 2025.

On October 16, Bacon discussed the passage of a continuing resolution (CR), stating, “We passed a clean CR on Sept. 19th, nothing attached. No poison pills. If Senate Dems pass it, we can sit down and negotiate. But, they continue to vote against it and are choosing to not pay federal workers who are still performing their jobs.” He attributed the ongoing payment issues for federal workers to opposition from Senate Democrats.

Later that day, Bacon highlighted his efforts to provide financial relief for overtime workers: “I drafted the ‘No Tax On Overtime Bill’ to help those working the hardest. It was incorporated into the OBBB with some modifications. Folks working overtime to take care of their families and pay off mortgages will now have more of THEIR money to do so.”

In another post dated October 17, Bacon simply stated: “Two more weeks…”

Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district since defeating Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he is currently based in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
