Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd district, addressed constituents in a series of tweets on November 5, 2025, sharing updates about congressional actions and ongoing efforts to maintain government operations.
The congressman began the evening by announcing an open forum for his constituents: “Our tele-townhall just started! To ask questions, call in at 855-962-1225 or submit questions at https://t.co/ZXqnmywbC5. I look forward to hearing from you!” (November 5, 2025).
Addressing legislative developments, Bacon highlighted recent congressional maneuvers regarding government funding: “In September we passed a seven-week no political strings attached CR. It takes 60 votes to pass a bill in the Senate, but only 3 Dems have voted to open the government.” (November 5, 2025).
He also commented on historical patterns related to continuing resolutions and shutdowns: “A clean CR has been the way forward for decades and I’ve seen firsthand that the party that causes the shutdown loses.” (November 5, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. The congressman holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
