Representative Don Bacon, who has served Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding national defense, missile defense cooperation with Israel, and international affairs. Bacon, born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
On July 12, 2025, Bacon emphasized the importance of timely technological advancements for U.S. service members. He stated: “Our service members can’t afford to wait years for technologies to defend America. The #FY26NDAA focuses taxpayer dollars on delivering capability, not feeding bureaucratic processes.”
In a post dated July 13, 2025, Bacon reflected on his involvement with long-range missile defense efforts in Israel between 2009 and 2010. He remarked: “I worked on a team that stood up long-range missile defense in Israel focused against Iran in 2009 – 2010. It has paid off… this past year it has intercepted 99% of the Iranian and Houthi missiles fired at Israeli cities. I am proud of 3rd Air Force and the Israelis for the”.
Later that day, Bacon commented on Hungary’s stance regarding Russia’s actions in Ukraine. He wrote: “My grandfather was Hungarian and I’m proud of my heritage. But Orban is wrong. Russia is the invader, murders POWs, bombs cities, and kidnaps Ukrainian children. Orban is on the wrong side of this war.”
Bacon succeeded Brad Ashford as representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district and continues to be active in discussions about national security and international relations.
