Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently shared several updates on his social media account, addressing topics ranging from demographic changes affecting congressional representation to reflections on American leadership and personal milestones.
On August 17, 2025, Bacon cited an article from The Wall Street Journal in a post about shifting population trends: “WSJ : ‘The population shift from blue to red states will reshape the Congressional map by the end of the decade.’” (August 17, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on America’s global role and responsibilities: “American leadership isn’t free. It comes with a cost, risk, and responsibility. But the cost of retreat is far greater. History has taught us that time and again.” (August 17, 2025).
In another post the same evening, Bacon expressed gratitude for birthday wishes and shared details about his celebration: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes. We had family from all over stay with us and had a great birthday bash. I think the candles should read 62.” (August 17, 2025).
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 with a BA degree before also attending the University of Phoenix. He succeeded Brad Ashford as representative of Nebraska’s 2nd district.
