Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on August 11, 2025, addressing issues ranging from international conflict to domestic legislative processes.
In his first post of the day, Bacon commented on global affairs, stating: “It’s the ‘Russian invasion of its sovereign neighbor’ business… appeasing or ignoring an invader will cost the free world more in the end. He is reflecting the ‘Post Liberal Right’ position, and it is wrong.” (August 11, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Bacon addressed redistricting practices in American politics: “As @KimStrassel points out here, the Dems have more ruthlessly gerrymandered the states they control, which gives the advantage to the GOP if we see wave in redistricting.” (August 11, 2025).
In a subsequent post on legislative authority over tariffs, Bacon wrote: “I submitted a bill under my name to reclaim Congressional authority over tariffs as outlined in the Constitution. @GrassleyPress & I have matching bills. For 90 years, Congress gave emergency Tariff powers to the President & it will take some persuasion to take that power back.” (August 11, 2025).
Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and continues to represent Nebraska’s 2nd District. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
