Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of issues on his social media account on July 24, 2025.
In one post, Bacon commented on free speech and the public response to prejudice, writing: “Individuals have the right to be hateful and to have prejudices. But, we also have the right to denounce those prejudices and shame racist behavior. Free speech works for us too.” (July 24, 2025).
Shortly after, he highlighted a meeting with an arts advocacy group: “Met with @Neb4TheArts to discuss the vital role of arts & culture in our communities. Supporting these programs ensures Nebraska’s creative spirit continues to thrive and enrich lives across our state.” (July 24, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon posted about Middle East affairs: “Hamas does not want peace is the bottom line.” (July 24, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
