Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted several statements on social media addressing recent legislative action and commemorating the anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal.
On August 26, 2025, Rep. Bacon wrote, “I voted for the Laken Riley Act that deports illegal immigrants who committed felonies. That NE Dems opposed this is a reason why your registration numbers keep declining.” The post referenced his support for the Laken Riley Act and criticized Nebraska Democrats for their opposition to the measure.
Later that day, he posted a link without further comment: “https://t.co/UDsEEyT4RG”.
In another statement marking four years since the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Bacon stated on August 26, 2025: “Four years after Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, we remember 13 American heroes lost at Abbey Gate. Today I think of Cpl. Daegan Page from Omaha. Our love & sympathies remain with his family & all who lost loved ones that tragic day. We will never forget.”
Don Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion, Nebraska. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
