Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared several posts on social media highlighting his views on military leadership, bipartisan cooperation in Congress, and support for young farmers.
On August 24, 2025, Bacon wrote about the importance of historical knowledge for military leaders: “Building successful and efficient military leadership of the future requires a good knowledge of the past. Appreciate the opportunity to share and discuss with members of the Nebraska National Guard out in the field.”
The following day, he reflected on political leadership and consensus-building in Congress. On August 25, 2025, Bacon posted: “My “statesmen” heroes are Lincoln, Eisenhower, Churchill & Reagan. James Madison wrote the Constitution to force consensus building & to stymie hyperpartisanship. If you want to get serious things done in Congress, you need some support across the aisle.”
Later that same day, Bacon addressed agricultural policy and efforts to help beginning farmers and ranchers access financing more efficiently. He stated: “The SOIL Act will finally open the door for beginning farmers & ranchers to obtain financing by allowing producers to be preapproved for FSA Loans. Young producers should not be forced to wait months on end before receiving permission to purchase land.”
Bacon has served as a member of Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
